B is for Bronx

For the next several Mondays ,I will continue to base my blog post topics on the letters of the alphabet. For more information or to join in go to accidental-knitter.blogspot.com/2011/05/b-is-for-blogging.html

Today “B” is for Bronx. I was born in Brooklyn, NY. But, I have lived in the Bronx, NY all my life.  I have only lived in three apartments . I attended elementary school, middle school and high school in the Bronx.  I even completed several  semesters at a  college located in the  Bronx.

Unfortunately, I can’t say that I completed my undergraduate degree in the Bronx.  I received my BA degree from a college located in  Manhattan.   Most of my jobs were located in Manhattan .  Although, the main office of my last employer was located in Manhattan , I worked out of the Bronx office site.

For most of my life, I attended church in the Bronx. Now I attend a church located in Manhattan when I feel well enough to attend church. Most of my healthcare providers are located in the Bronx.

I live in a building which is located near Yankee Stadium.  My favorite Bronx landmark is the Botanical Gardens. The Bronx Zoo is also a very popular tourist site.  The Bronx has been my home for almost 50 years. Unless something drastic happens ,the Bronx will probably be my home for life.

Wow, I can’t believe you’ve lived in the same place for so long! The longest I’ve stayed in one place is 7 years. It must be nice to really have somewhere you can call home.

I hope when and if I have to move from this apartment I will be prepared. It’s been about 32 years that I have lived in this particular apartment.

The Bronx and Manhattan sound very exotic to me living in sleepy old Wiltshire. How great to be able to say you are part of that community.

I also was born in Brooklyn but raised all 3 of my children in the Bronx. My favorite place in the bronx is also the Botanical gardens.
